Linda Anastasia Ransom   E-RYT

Linda’s Yoga journey began about 17 years ago.  She began exploring Yoga for improved health along with stress management.  Linda feels blessed that she has found so much more with so much to learn!  She believes Yoga has helped her grow mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually.  For Linda, being present, mindful, and using pranayama, (the breath) has been the greatest tool for inner peace. She began teaching Yoga in 2002. Linda’s training is in Hatha Yoga Iyengar Style at Inner Dance Studio in Anchorage, AK.  She recently completed Phoenix Rising Sun Yoga Therapy Level 1 training.   Linda brings heartfelt compassion that comes from her Yoga practice to her classes.  She  loves helping others feel empowered to manage their stress through Yoga and gain mindfulness in their lives. Yoga resonates so whole-heartedly in Linda’s life that she has brought Therapeutic Yoga into her Mental Health practice. Individuals are empowered to work on a self discovery of releasing depression, anxiety, stress, trauma… thus making space for liberation. Linda continues to grow as both a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with every student/client she encounters.  She reminds us that the “The Real Healer Is You”.  Linda lives in Wasilla with her amazing husband and son.  She is forever grateful to her primary teachers, Lynne Minton, Karen Greenwood,  Dori McDannold,  and Tammy Moser.

Kathy Widmer RYT

Kathy is our lovely manager at The Anjali Yoga Room! Not only does she organize and keep our studio sparkling clean but brings love and joy to our studio!

Kath’s Yoga journey began 7 years ago. She completed her RYT in 2014.


Veronica Wolf   RYT

Veronica enjoys teaching a broad range of yoga classes. Her classes include YogaKid (a hilarious experience for 6-13 year-olds), Healing Yoga (focuses on gentle and safety for those with physical challenges due to illness/injury), Gentle Yoga (offers gentle asanas and restorative poses to help reconnect with alignment), and Prenatal Yoga, for all stages of pregnancy (offers strengthening, stretching, and breathing techniques for mommies-to-be in a nurturing environment).

Her practice philosophy is to include everyone, at all skill levels, and experience in creating a shared yoga community here in the valley. “When your mind wonders, focus on the breath because the breath always lives in the present.” – Judith Lasater, 2009

Dori McDannold   RYT

Dori McDannold, LMT, RYT has been teaching Yoga since 2001. Dori is certified by the Nosara Institute Interdisplinary Yoga Program at 200 hr. level, and the 200 hr. level Inner Dance Iyengar Yoga Teacher  program. Dori brings to her classes an active flowing style of vinyasana, humor, openness, and a sense of  wonder and discovery toward alignment of the body, mind and spirit.

Dori is also as certified Massage Therapist through the Heartwood Institute. She specializes therapeutic work  utilizing a blend of Deep Tissue, Myofascial Release, Craniosacral Therapy, and also offers Full Body Swedish  that relaxes and rejuevenates the whole being. Mariah Moon   RYT

I am a life long Alaskan. My hope is to promote more wellness and joy in as many people’s lives as possible. I am a registered 200 hour Hatha Yoga Teacher through Yoga Alliance. Yoga is my passion in life; I live my life guided by yogic philosophy and a steady practice. I became a teacher to share with as many people the joy, happiness, strength and balance I have found through yoga; physically, emotionally, mentally & spiritually. I believe yoga has something to offer everyone and every body type.

Kelly Powell   RYT

Kelly began his yoga journey 20 years ago.  After retiring in 2014, he completed yoga teacher training at Anjali Yoga Room in 2015.  Kelly served in both the Navy and Army.  His goal is to bring the healing power of yoga to military veterans.  Kelly often quotes Jigar Gor, “Yoga is not about touching your toes, it is what you learn on the way down.”

Kate Gibbs   RYT

Kate Gibbs is a kind-hearted, adventure-loving individual who believes that yoga creates space where everyone can feel welcome. Kate has a mind toward community development, a heart toward helping, and a determination to live a life of purpose and exploration. The love Kate has for her community is shown in her history of teaching free community classes and volunteering in various organizations.
Kate’s intention is to continually invest in the world around her and hold space for those whose lives touch her own. Kate teaches several classes to a wide range of students of varying ages, physical, and mental abilities. “Yoga” means “union” and Kate believes in yoga as a way to bring community together in a loving, mindful, and authentic way.

Mandy Coleman   RYT

Mandy found her yoga path 3 yrs ago, fell in love with it, and never looked back. She wanted others to experience the same and became a registered Hatha Yoga teacher herself. Mandy is registered through Yoga Alliance and received her training through our very own Anjali Yoga Room. Yoga has changer her life in so many ways, she wants to give that feeling of gratitude back to our community.

Mandy loves to make people feel welcomed to yoga through easy flows, humor, and an intuitive insight. Through yoga, Mandy has also opened up her gifts as an Intuitive Medium and is always eager to share messages of love. Not only can yoga help to heal our bodies and minds, but our souls. Namaste

Ayla Marie Turner   RYT

Yoga has not been a part of my life for very long, but it is one of the biggest parts of my life now; in every aspect.  I love yoga, I love the purity, vulnerability, joy, truth, growth, rawness, simplicity, and love for self and all others it brings into my core.  I just recently got married to the man of my dreams and my childhood crush, we have two dogs that are our children and constant obsession!  Family is life, and my life is overflowing with goodness because of the family I have been blessed with; and the friends that have become family.  I teach 2nd grade in the MSBSD and truly LOVE what I get to do each day and that I get to spend my days being inspired by young minds.  I am honored to share yoga with such a beautiful community and love seeing it grow and become what it is.  Yoga is love.

Nicole Seltenreich   RYT, Alignment Base Hatha Yoga Instructor SUP (stand up paddle board) Yoga Teacher, World Paddle Association Level 1

Nicki’s love of yoga came when she entered the Anjali Yoga Room 5 years ago.   Inspired to learn more, to dig deeper in the depth that yoga is, she began her teaching journey in September of 2014.  She traveled to Key West Florida to train for Stand Up Paddle Board Yoga Teacher Training and World Paddle Board Level 1 Instruction. She loves to work with people who are new to yoga, excited to share the mixture of peace of mind, flow of the body, proper alignment and technique.  Funny and loving, she brings a fun approach to learning yoga, and shows the beauty in all of us.  She is a lifelong Alaskan, married with three grown kids.  She specializes in Paddle Board Yoga and Introduction to Yoga for Beginners.

Jennifer Smith-Morris   RYT

Jennifer has been teaching yoga for the past three years. She feels yoga introduced her to herself when she took a yoga class in college in the 90s. She loves helping students learn more about their unique selves. Jennifer holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in creative writing and is the author of many articles, essays, short stories, and a children’s novel. Despite all that, she currently works as a technical writer! In her free time, she enjoys hiking, skiing, and hanging out with her husband, three grown children, and three grandchildren.

Halie Montanez   RYT

Halie started her yoga journey about two year’s ago. Quickly, I saw how yoga could really impact a person’s life. Soon after she realized that was something she wanted to share with everyone! Which, is one of the best parts of yoga, it’s for everyone! I took my 200 RYT last year with Karen and Bruce Greenwood. I have my 200 RYT in Hatha yoga which is alignment based yoga. I feel very blessed to share the beauty, community and joy of yoga!

Sharon Story RYT

Sharon began her yoga practice in the 1970s, guided by a Richard Hittleman yoga book, on a chilly floor at her log cabin home in the Alaska Range. In the ensuing years, she focused on paths in journalism, construction, dog mushing, and education. In 2011 she retired as an elementary principal, the “best job the world,” she says. Sharon is the happy mother and step-mother of five adult children and grandmother of four grandchildren. She has long followed a spiritual and meditation practice, and after retirement she was able to deepen her knowledge of yoga and allow the time to practice and grow with renewed commitment and devotion.

Sharon completed teacher training in Hatha Yoga Iyengar Style at Inner Dance Studio in 2013, and she is currently pursuing Advanced Yoga training. She found her yoga home at the Anjali Yoga Studio in Wasilla, and was honored to begin co-teaching Healing Chair Yoga with her mentor and friend, Linda Ransom. Her love of yoga therapy and her personal healing — experienced through mindfulness, asana, pranayama, and simply being present — has awakened her desire to share yoga with others, especially those, like her, with health concerns or aging bodies. Sharon and her husband, Jerry, have recently relocated to Fairbanks, Alaska, where she will teach Healing Chair Yoga at Raven Landing in the upcoming year. Sharon is grateful to her primary teachers, Lynne Minton, Linda Ransom, Dori McDannold, and Karen Greenwood.

Suzanne Crosby RYT

Suzanne is an eight-year yoga student at the Anjali Yoga Room.  She received her 200-hour RYT certificate in 2015 from the Anjali Yoga Room while studying with Karen Greenwood and Linda Ransom.  She has been drawn to Healing Chair Yoga and feels she identifies with those who may be physically challenged.

She believes the practice of moving the body and absorbing the mindfulness of yoga strengthens these bodies and relieves stress.  In her spare time, she enjoyes Alaska adventures and friends as well as creative work in the visual arts.

Maynard Perkins, “Perk”, RYT

I have lived in Alaska for 65 years. I spent 11 years as a university student, taught 7 years as a public school science and math teacher,  and 15 years as a natural science professor with the University of Alaska Northwest Campus in Nome. I was in the Army for two years as a hospital laboratory technician. While in university I participated in riflery, judo, karate, and fencing.

I started practicing yoga 2001 and earned my 200RYT through Yoga FIT. My wife and I enjoy gardening and traveling. We explore cultures around the world, especially through their food and beverages. I am a check pilot examiner for the Civil Air Patrol and fly search and rescue missions for the organization. I am both a glider and power aircraft flight instructor.
